Exporting Sequences with Quick Export
To export your sequence quickly to a compressed video file, for example to show to reviewers, you can use Quick Export. This exports a sequence from Nuke Studio or Hiero to a variety of video formats at a fast speed.
You can output your sequence to .MOV formats in the following codecs:
Apple ProRes |
• 4:4:4:4 XQ 12-bit • 4:4:4:4 12-bit • 4:2:2 HQ 10-bit • 4:2:2 10-bit • 4:2:2 LT 10-bit • 4:2:2 Proxy 10-bit |
Avid DNxHD |
• DNxHD 444 10-bit 440Mbit • DNxHD 422 10-bit 220Mbit • DNxHD 422 8-bit 220Mbit • DNxHD 422 10-bit 145Mbit • DNxHD 422 10-bit 36Mbit |

H.264 |
• High 4:2:0 8-bit • Main 4:2:0 8-bit |
By default you will be taken to the Quick tab if the item you are exporting is compatible, otherwise you’ll be taken to the Custom tab and the Quick tab will be grayed out.
If the source to be exported is compatible with both the Quick and Custom export options then you can switch freely between both. Remember that only the Quick export option leverages the accelerated rendering mechanism.
To use Quick Export:
1. | Open the sequence that you wish to export in the sequence Viewer. Ensure that the layers you wish to be included in the export are enabled. Any video or audio tracks that are disabled will not be included in the final exported video file. Likewise any clips in the sequence that are disabled will also be ignored.* (*On Mac and Linus disabled Audio tracks or disabled audio clips will be ignored. On Windows all audio will be exported regardless of track or clip status.) |
2. | Select File > Export, or right click the sequence in the project view and choose Export. This can also be done by using the Ctrl + Shift + E hotkey combination. |
3. | This will open up the Export dialog. |
4. | In the Quick tab there will be a subset of options that are applicable to formats supported. |
5. | Choose a destination for your file path, and configure the codec and format options. You can then select the Export button. |
6. | A progress popup will appear and update based on the percentage of the export process that is complete. |
7. | When the export is complete, you can choose to either open the file folder location or to close the window and return to the Studio UI. |
Note: During export, the studio interface will be locked to prevent any changes to the sequence being outputted. It will be possible to cancel the export but a warning will appear notifying that any partially exported files will be deleted if it is canceled.
Quick Export - Additional Considerations
Limitations
• Currently only Whole Sequence in the Range options is available.
• Annotations are not available.
• Only on Windows; disabled audio tracks or audio clips are not ignored and will be exported.
• Currently there is no provision to save custom presets.
Behavior
• Currently only the {sequence} token is available in the file path name.
• The last used file path is persistent within the current session.
