1. | How do you transfer a channel from one object to another? |

From the top navigation menu go to Channels > Transfer, or from the Channels palette, right-click and select Transfer.
In the Channel Transfer dialog, make sure the correct source and destination objects are selected. Then select the channels to transfer from one object to the other.
2. | How do you extract a patch to use as a paint through image? |
Reveal answer
In the viewer, select the desired patch area and then right-click and choose Patches > Extract Selected. The extracted images appear in the Image Manager to be used as paint through sources.
Exercise
1. | In the Channels palette, create a new channel and name it Base Color Xfer. |
2. | From the top menu, select Layers > Transfer. |
3. | In the dialogue box, make sure your source channel is Base Color. |
4. | From the previous exercise, select the Clouds and ColorX layers by Ctrl-clicking each layer. |
5. | Make sure the Destination channel is set to Base Color Xfer and click the single arrow > in the middle column to transfer the selected layers from Base Color to Base Color Xfer. |
6. | Selecting Base Color Xfer in the Channels palette now displays the results of the two layers transferred from the Base Color channel. |
Keep in mind that the results are not the same because only part of the paint work was transferred over.
