Bias node
Access: Nodes > Math > Bias
Skews a [0.0, 1.0] value toward 0 or 1 using a power curve. A Bias of 0.5 is the identity. Useful for adjusting the density of procedural noise masks without clipping the pure black and pure white edges.
The input is clamped to [0.0, 1.0] range.
| Input (RGB) | Output (RGB) |
| 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 | 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 (identity curve at b = 0.5). |
| 0.25, 0.25, 0.25 with Bias = 0.25 | 0.0625, 0.0625, 0.0625 (pulls midtones toward dark) |
| 0.25, 0.25, 0.25 with Bias = 0.75 | 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 (pulls midtones toward bright). |
Bias node inputs
|
Input |
The input gradient in the range 0.0-1.0 to be skewed. |
Bias node outputs
|
Output |
The input remapped using Perlin-Hoffert bias curve b(p=ln(b)/ln(0.5)). |
Bias properties
|
Bias |
The gradient of which to bias the input. At Bias = 0.5 the output is unchanged. Below 0.5 the midtones are pulled toward black; above 0.5 they are pulled toward white. |
