Smoother Step node
Access: Nodes > Math > Smoother Step
Like Smooth Step but with an even smoother S-curve (zero slope and zero curvature at both edges). The transition looks cleaner in animations and procedural textures. Use this when Smooth Step looks slightly mechanical. Helpful for effects such as liquid puddle edges or transitions in skin color.
The below examples assume that Edge0 = 0.0 and Edge1 = 1.0
| Input (RGB) | Output (RGB) |
| 0.1, 0.1, 0.1 | 0.00856, 0.00856, 0.00856 (flatter ease-in than Smooth Step) |
| 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 | 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 |
| 0.9, 0.9, 0.9 | 0.99144, 0.99144, 0.99144 (flatter ease-out than Smooth Step) |
