Using Influences

Deformers twist, bend, and otherwise distort a target mesh, but sometimes you may wish to affect an item's position, scale, or rotation without distorting the mesh itself. In Modo, deformers have two basic parts: an effector and an influence. These two parts collectively are considered deformers. Effectors provide instructions on how to affect the Target, and the influence determines what gets affected. Having these two parts provides flexibility. By default, each influences the entire Mesh. Learn about the different Influences you can use to transform individual elements in your animated scene.
