Using Edge Component Tools
Some of Modo's tools are specific to the various component types: vertices, edges, and polygons. For example, there are three component beveling tools, and each has its own settings. The Edge Bevel tool has a rounding option, but the Polygon Bevel tool does not. Some tools are interactive tools, but others are one-shot commands that produce a specific result. You may use some regularly and others only rarely; however, all could be considered indispensable. For information on using a specific tool, click any link below to see its topic.
Edges |
---|---|---|
Widens the selected edges into quad strips of a uniform specified width. |
Moves selected mesh elements (vertices, edges and polygons) along their connected edges. |
Turns the current edge or edges to re-organize the way they separate the two adjoining polygons. |
Welds two edges together and the resulting edges have a position that is an average of the original edge positions. |
Shifts edges outward along the average normal of their two neighboring polygons. |
Adds a new vertex point along an existing polygon edge, splitting the edge in two, or along a curve wherever you click. |
Edge Relax | Changes the radius of edge bevels. | |
Edge Chamfer | Round selected edges of a mesh. | |
Removes the selected element without destroying the integrity of the geometry. |
Separates mesh polygons along selected edges. |
Creates geometry from selected edges by extending them outward. |
Adds a continuous edge through a series of polygons. |
Deletes edges from the mesh geometry. |
Creates hard or soft transition edges between polygons based on edge selections. |
Fills any open holes within a mesh with only quad polygons. |
Creates Spline curves, Polylines, Bezier curves, or B-spline curves from edges on an existing mesh. |
