Sequencer Panel

The Sequencer panel enables you to add new sequences into your project. It is possible to sequence most parameters in Nuke Stage.

Tip:  You can middle-mouse drag parameters into the sequencer to check whether they can be sequenced. If they cannot be sequenced, a red overlay with the message Not Animatable will appear. If they can be sequenced, a green overlay will appear with the message Add Track.

The most common use of this feature is to sequence parameters from nodes within any node graph. When a node graph is created, a sequence mirroring the graph is automatically generated.

In these automatically created sequences, every node from the node graph is represented by a parent track. The parameters of each node also have their own tracks. The tracks are visible in the node tree-view on the left of the sequencer. You can choose to hide/ re-open this display by clicking the Show tree view icon ().

The Sequencer can also be used to sequence images, using clips. This enables you to edit and structure content from a Read node. Image clips can be re-timed, repeated, trimmed or re-targeted. Read more about clips at Using Clips.

You can access the sequencer tracks for each node’s parameters from the Sequence workspace tab through the Properties panel.

Sequencer Controls

There are controls in the Sequencer frame that enable you to edit and manage your nodes in the sequencer graph. The below table outlines:

Sequencer tools, Content tools, State editor and Playback controls. - found on the left side of the sequencer frame.

Timeline controls - found in the sequencer timeline.

Property tracks - found when interacting with the tree-view list of tracks.

Right-click context menu - found by right-clicking in the Sequencer frame. Include many shortcut settings.

Keyboard shortcuts:

  • Ctrl+scroll to zoom in/out. Also works on the timeline. Alternatively use Alt+middle-mouse button drag.
  • Middle-mouse drag on the background to pan in frametime, or use horizontal mouse wheel if you have one.

  • Left/right arrows to step frametime left and right.

  • Alt+left/right to jump to the prev/next cue/keyframe if one is selected.

  • F to fit the view to whatever is selected, or to the frame range if there is no selection.

  • Ctrl+A to select everything.

    Sequencer Tools

    Tool selection

Cycle between Multi-tool, Select, Move and Trim.

Multitool - Combines selection, moving and clip trimming. Click on clips, cues, keyframes or track bodies to select them, or click and drag in empty space to marquee select. Click and drag on an object to reposition it in frametime. Click and drag on the start or end of a clip to trim it.

Select - Click on clips, cues, keyframes or track bodies to select them, or click and drag to marquee select.

Move - Click and drag on clips, cues, keyframes or track bodies to reposition them in frametime, or adjust keyframe values. Either frametime or value will be modified, depending on initial direction of the drag: hold Ctrl to allow editing both at once.

Trim - Click and drag on the start or end of a clip to adjust the portion of its overall frame range that will be played. A clip cannot be extended past its maximum frame range, and cannot overlap adjacent clips.

The keyboard shortcut for this tool is Q.

    Razor

Click on a clip to split it into two independent clips. Hold Alt to split all clips at the location of the current frametime.

    Click between:
