Opening Vault Data in Nuke

To open your recorded data in Nuke:

1.   Add a Camera node to your Nuke Project.

Note:  Make sure it is a Camera 3D node with the Beta icon, not the Classic Camera node.

2.   Enable the import scene prim checkbox.
3.   Click the folder icon () of the File path parameter and choose your camera USD file. You can open either a Nuke Stage Project or a Camera.
4.   Click on the import_prim_path icon (). This will present a pop up with the camera from your USD file. Double click on the camera. Alternatively you can manually enter the Camera path.
5.   Connect the Camera node to a viewer node to see it appear in the Nuke Viewer.

After you have added your camera to Nuke, you will need to configure the frame timeline and timecode settings.

1.   Create a GeoImport node. Don’t connect it to any other nodes.
2.   Input the same USD file you used for the Camera node in the File parameter and press Reload.
3.   The frame range of the USD file will populate the Frame Range property.
4.   Copy and paste the Frame Range values into the Project Settings to change the global frame range.
5.   The Viewer timeline will now be populated with the frame range, meaning you can view the camera movements in the Viewer when you have the frame range source set to Global.

6.   To view the timecode that the camera was recorded at, change the timecode display to TC.

Note:  Check that the fps property in Project Settings is the same value as the Nuke Stage fps when you were recording the camera data. This ensures that the correct timecodes appear in Nuke.

You can now use this data from Nuke Stage in your compositing environment, which enables you to work on the shot file with necessary data. You will be able to access the animation from the transform data, as well as the lens settings in the projection tab of the camera node.
