Take Record

A Take Record captures a defined beginning and end point to capture the scene’s state and camera matchmove.

To capture a Take:

1.   Open up the Vault panel in the Nuke Stage Editor. Alternatively, navigate to the Snapshot button found in all workspaces at the top-right corner of the Editor.
2.   Click Start Take.
3.   A Take will be recorded with the data from the point in time the button was pressed, until you click Stop Take. This information can be viewed in the Vault panel.

Your snapshots will appear in the Vault table with the Name, Slate, Take, Date, Time, Duration and Description information. They will also display the Take icon ().

After recording a Take, you can edit the name, slate, take index, and make notes in the Description cell. You can also delete takes by right-clicking the snapshot and selecting Remove.

Double-clicking the Vault table will open a popover with in-place editing controls. Alternatively, you can click the cell you want to edit and press F2 / select Edit from the context menu.

This data can then be exported as a USD file and opened in Nuke.

To export a Take as a USD file:

1.   In the Vault panel, click on the Take you want to export.
2.   In the bottom right corner of the panel, Click Export Camera.
  • Export Camera will export the specific camera information from the Take. Define the camera you want to export, as well as defining the start and stop times. The start and stop times are by default the maximum length of the recorded take, but can be altered to any subset of that length.

Note:  A take also defines a snapshot at its start point, so you can export/restore the start of a take using Export Project or Restore Snapshot.

3.   Choose the file location to save the USD to.
4.   Click Save.
