Release Notes for Nuke Stage 1.0v3

Release Date

22 September 2025

Qualified Operating Systems

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11

GPU Requirements

  • For syncing between machines, each RenderNode will need a GPU that is compatible with Quadro sync. A list of compatible GPUs can be found on the NVIDIA Quadro Sync page. For high resolution image playback and compositing, please use a high-end GPU such as an A6000

New Features

Data Vault

The Vault is Nuke Stage’s data recording system that captures and preserves all metadata throughout the shoot. Using the Snapshot and Take Record workflows, you can create a save file from either a point in time, rollback to a previous snapshot in your project or create a camera USD file from a take.

Blackmagic Timecode Support

Nuke Stage can use a Blackmagic input to drive its internal timecode. Using a Blackmagic device. such as a Decklink card, timecode can be read from a SDI camera input. This is particularly useful in tandem with the Vault for ensuring all captured data matches the universal timecode on-set.

Node Graph Improvements

A number of usability improvements which speed up workflows in the node graph such as dropping edges on nodes, grabbing and moving edges between connections, dropping nodes on edges to insert and keyboard shortcuts for nodes. A full list can be seen in the Feature Enhancements section below. These improvements will match Nuke in behavior.

There have also been new nodes introduced:

Clamp

Antialias

Keymix

WhiteNoise

FreeD Lens Data

The FreeD camera source can now read lens data such as focus distance, focal length and F-Stop from an encoder via FreeD. There are also offsets and modifiers for each of these values.

Camera link to Depth of Field node

The parameters within the Depth of Field node can now be driven by a Camera. This means that the node can be driven by live camera data when used in combination with the FreeD lens data above.

Data Windows

Nuke Stage will now handle data windows correctly through the node graph. This means nodes like Merge, Crop or Transform will operate on data and display windows correctly, as in Nuke. Nuke Stage will also handle animated data windows where the data window changes through a sequence.

A limitation around data/display windows in 1.0v3 is that the Image Viewer will by default only show the data window, so no pixels are displayed that are outside the data window but within the display window. To view the full display window you can enable “Transform to Display Window” in the Output node parameters, although note that this will cause issues if the texture is being applied to a USD mesh.

Known Issues

Vault

ID 606361 - The time it will take to restore snapshots and export takes will grow according to the amount of takes and project restarts. It is recommended that in the user preferences, the database is left on the default pattern using {day} so that a new database is created for every day of use. This will help to keep export times to a reasonable level.

Sync

ID 582495 - Issue with sync when using multiple outputs from the same machine

Node Graph

ID 606618 - Multiple read nodes with the same source file will not work. This is also the case for multiple camera reference nodes that reference the same camera.

ID 592250 - Node Reference node can’t reference a node within the same graph

ID 599195 - Renaming an output node after creating an override will cause an override to break. Override references will need to be corrected after a rename. This is true for texture, camera and display overrides

ID 599509 - If one node in a graph fails to compile, the entire graph will fail to compile

ID 599509 - Disabling a camera will cause the whole camera graph to fail, affecting potentially other cameras

Editor Miscellaneous

ID 606591 - The Image Viewer will by default only show the data window, so no pixels are displayed that are outside the data window but within the display window. To view the full display window you can enable “Transform to Display Window” in the Output node parameters, although note that this will cause issues if the texture is being applied to a USD mesh.

ID 598510 - Some issues around duplicating objects (i.e. cameras or displays), it is safer to create objects from scratch

ID 606531 - Duplicating an Inner Camera and changing to an Outer Camera results in crash

ID 599049 - Some placement issues when using DPI scaling above 125%

ID 599508 - If running on a laptop, low power mode may cause viewports to display black

Nuke StageUSDExport Node

ID 597529 - Errors exporting when using clone nodes

ID 598641 - Problems transforming meshes in Stage after they were exported using a skew in Nuke. In Nuke, avoid using a skew transformation or rotating the transform pivot and applying a non-uniform scale

ID 599697 - Importing USDZ filetypes with GeoImport and adding to scene will fail to export

Installer

ID 607074 - If the Listener service is installed to a custom location, installation will succeed but the uninstallation will fail.
