General
• Flix now warns you if the local and other services are running on different versions. An error pop-up appears when launching Flix if the local version is different to the version any other service is running.
• A new Install/Update plug-in group now provides plug-ins to easily install third-party application scripts and Flix updates.
For more information, refer to the Install and Setup section.
• Flix now keeps track of who accessed the shows and saves this information in log files. The logs are stored in the flixers/flix folder.
• Flix now supports the SSL protocol and can be setup to run through https.
• When launching Flix, you are now warned if some services aren't running. The warning message lists all the services that aren't responding to easily identify which servers need attention. If the first File service is down, Flix displays an error until the connection has been restored.
• By default, the panel ID is centered at the bottom of the panel and the panel index is on the right. The Swap Panel Labels right-click option now allows you to have the panel index centered and the panel ID displayed on the right.
Editing
• The new Flix Cropped Current Image action exports the cropped selection made in Photoshop to a new Flix panel.
Install and Setup
• New plug-ins are available in the new Install/Update plug-in group. The Install Photoshop Scripts, Install Maya Scripts, and Install TVPaint Scripts plug-ins install all the necessary scripts needed to send panels from Photoshop, Maya, and TVPaint to Flix.
• A new Install Flix Launchers plug-in is available in the new Install/Update plug-in group. This creates new executables to launch Flix in both the shared and the user’s applications directories:
• Windows: C:\Program Files\Flix\
• OSX: /Applications/Flix/
• Linux: /opt/Flix/
The new launchers present a few advantages:
• A splash screen indicating when Flix is loading.
• A context menu to open a new Flix or Editorial tab, show the Status page, or quit Flix.
• The new launchers are located in a more easily recognized file structure.
• A new Update the current Flix version plug-in is available in the new Install/Update plug-in group. This updates the local Flix version to the master location version.
Project Browser
• The new Create Shows button, available from Flix Project Browser, allows you to create a new show using a name, aspect ratio, and frame rate of your choice. Additionally, the show can be created as episodic.
• It’s now possible to edit the comments for versions that were already saved, through the EditComments button from Flix Project Browser.
Syncing
• A new icon now shows the state of Flix's Resync service. This allows remote studios and studios working with remote vendors to have a better understanding of which files have been synced and which ones still need to be copied over.
• TVPaint project files (.tvpp) saved in your Flix project’s directory structure now get picked up by your Resync service and synced to the master location.
