In this collection of pro-tips from Sebastian Schütt, we take a look at when and how to use some of Nuke's most useful Nodes.

Starting with the Switch node we take a look at how it can be used to quickly jump between multiple inputs, eliminating the need to jump between frames in the Viewer or dive into the Curve Editor.

Next up in the series is a useful Merge blending operation called Disjoint-Over. Used with holdouts made from multiple overlapping shapes, Disjoint-Over makes sure that unwanted edge artifacts between shapes are a thing of the past.

The next node featured, GeoSelect, allows you to save selection sets made on 3D geometry. Once a selection is saved, you can then endlessly repurpose the selection for workflows that may involve snapping objects to each other, generating point clouds, or emitting particles from a fixed source.

Lastly, we take a look at how concatenation and the MergeMat node help you manage transformations through the Node Graph to avoid over-filtering, which can reduce image quality.
