The Material Soloing Converter | Choose How You Preview Your Work
The Material Soloing feature allows you to preview materials before they're finalized, giving you the ability to check your work as it progresses. The Material Solo Converters are plugins used to translate how short-circuited materials should be interpreted in the previewed render.
We understand that different studios and people have different needs when it comes to previewing materials, especially when it comes to stylized shows versus realistic ones. That's why we created a system that allows you to easily customize the converter plugins to fit your unique needs.
We ship with example plugins for 3Delight, Arnold, Redshift, and Renderman. However, you may need to expand on this to support shading node ports that are not currently supported in our examples or if you're using another renderer.
Katana provides the Material Soloing Converter, which lets you preview your shading nodes as you wish. And with the Material Soloing Converter, you have control over how those previewed nodes and ports are interpreted. The converter is customizable, meaning you can preview your shading nodes in the way that works best for you.
So go ahead, add your own special touch, and make Material Soloing best fit your needs.
