Test Your Knowledge
1. | What is the paint buffer? |
The paint buffer can be thought of as an imaginary piece of glass between you and the geometry that allows you to paint on top of the object without committing the paint unless desired. The paint buffer also lets you scale your texture resolution to your model.
2. | How do you adjust the paint buffer? |
Click and hold the magnifying glass from the left-side toolbar and select Transform Paint Buffer, or press M to enter paint buffer transform mode.
3. | What two important settings should you check in the paint buffer options that Michael mentions? |
Size and colour depth.
4. | What should we ensure is happening with the color depth setting? |
That it is set to the same size as our current channel or we will be losing data.
5. | What are the paint buffer modifier keys to manipulate transform, rotation, and scale? |
Shift = Transform
Control = Rotate
Control+Shift = Scale
Exercise
Resize the paint buffer to the size of the top lens of the camera model.
Practice
In this video we also see the powerful mirror projection function and how to use it. Spend some time getting use to toggling it on as well as using the handles on the tool. This is a tool that can and will be used quite often.
