Feature Enhancements
Under the Hood
-
ID 474377 - Flix now checks if you have you have microphone permissions on macOS and Windows. If you don't have the correct permissions:
On Mac, Flix sends a permission request through the OS and displays a request dialog so you can grant permission manually.
On Windows, an error banner is displayed and you must grant permission through the Windows OS control panel under Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices > Recording.
- ID 496144 - Flix now automatically saves changes to the preferences when you close the Preference window.
Bug Fixes
Under the Hood
- ID 470181 - Flix Client only downloaded the first 100 KB of the server log from the management console.
- ID 486769 - Flix did not allow you to import files with uppercase file extensions such as my_seq.AAF.
- ID 501120 - Audio extraction failed on certain .aaf files that worked as expected in legacy versions of Flix.
- ID 512729 - Uploading files over certain VPN configurations could not resolve the DNS correctly.
Story/Production
- ID 507055 - Manually importing a corrupted file into Flix caused all panels imported in the same import to become corrupt. Additionally, manual imports where transcoding failed on all imports caused the client to send new transcode requests indefinitely.
- ID 513538 - Copying and pasting a panel displayed an HTTP failure error if the panel revision was greater than 1.
Editorial/Production
- ID 467385 - Timewarps added in Avid did not create panels with the correct duration in Flix.
- ID 504492 - Exporting only audio from a sequence with no audio present caused Flix to become unresponsive.
- ID 505229 - Changes to clips nested within effect clips were not correctly imported back to Flix if the effect clip had already been imported.
- ID 505781 - Panels related to other panels in Avid were occasionally not saved correctly.
- ID 510178 - The More information link displayed in the Avid preferences and the Avid Publish dialog did not work as expected.
- ID 511961 - Sending still panels to Avid did not specify Mark In points correctly.

Upgrading to Flix 6.4.1
This update requires end users to upgrade Flix Client to version 6.4.1.
Additionally:
-
The new Transfer Utility port must be accessible on each server and all clients. The default port number is 9091, but the port can be changed by setting the client_transfer_port parameter in the config.yml file to a different port number. See Flix Server Options for more information.
-
If any server is running CentOS 6, it must be upgraded to CentOS 7.
From Flix 6.3.7
-
DB upgrade (v29 -> v41) - see Upgrading Flix for more information.
-
Photoshop Plugin update - see Managing Your Flix Deployment for more information.
From a pre-6.3 version (e.g. 6.2.2)
-
DB upgrade ( -> v27) - see Upgrading Flix for more information.
-
Asset migration is recommended, but not required.
Note: Although not required for 6.3, we recommend performing the asset migration eventually, as future minor (e.g. 6.5) and major (e.g. 7.0) releases may not support assets stored outside of show subdirectories.
-
PS Plugin update - see Managing Your Flix Deployment for more information.
-
Server configuration - see Upgrading Flix for more information.
