Digital Lighting Workflow
In this course, lighting and compositing artist Abel Vargas, introduces Katana's Lighting Tools and how they can be used to place and edit lights in your scene. The Lighting Tools in Katana 4.0 enhance lighting workflows for artists. Inspired by the thought processes of live action cinematographers and lighting artists, the Lighting Tools allow you to work quickly and smoothly with more creative freedom.
Abel takes you through how to use the various light placement options for both character and practical lighting, as well as how to use the light parameter head-up display so you are able to work full-screen in the Hydra Viewer when lighting a scene. You will also learn how to use ViewerObjectSettings node types to customize the head-up display to include other parameters you often need access to.
Finally, Abel teaches you how use Template Materials to make adjustments to multiple lights, and how to override them to make per-shot lighting variations.
Follow along by downloading the course files to discover how you can enhance your lighting workflows, and work accurately and efficently using Lighting Tools.
